Hello.........

Here will appear the thoughts of Colin 2002
The events that I remember and bring back memories are:-
January - Well the year begins and already I feel like I'm back in the 70's. It's number 1 it's "My Sweet Lord". One of my all time favourites.  I now have the CD single which is playing in repeat mode in my car.
My Birthday has been and gone. 51 now, not so different from the big 50. I suppose the next BIG one will be the BIG 60.

Apart from the fact it's my birthday month, I don't like January it's too wet and windy, and not a lot happens.

February - Back to job hunting again. My post at MKC has been made redundant. Since I joined there has been a down turn in business. (Is it me) not only for MKC but in general. So it's back to looking through the job vacancies again. Now what shall I do this time around.

My camera has been borrowed by persons unknown so no more pictures for a while

The latest or the first of the year Sunday Meets took place. Organized by Me..... Or rather disorganized by me..... OOPS not one of the best, all rather disappointing as Lazy Otter Pub is normally rather good during the week. But it seems different staff and menu's at weekend. Oh well on to the next. But at least we all got together.

Sue had a short course in Bath so I went along for the ride. The last time we where there was during our camping days a long time ago.

March - Started to look for a new challenge in life, but quickly found out this was not going to be easy. IT/TELECOM jobs are few and far between. So looking at starting up on myself. CG Computers.
Not a good month for 3 weeks I had the BUG, and on top of it all it was wet and miserable and I was stuck indoors.
The good news for this month is that I have a new camera, care of the insurance company and Jessops. A Fuji 2800 so more pictures soon.

April - I don't know if I had mentioned before but I like April. It's the beginning of spring. Summer is coming. I can get back out into the garden and enjoy all the hard work of last year.
The latest in the Sunday meets took place at the Butterfly Hotel care of Dave (50) and Pat. Somewhat more organized than my last effort. Good meal Good company.

Happy Birthday

And I won on the premium bonds a whole £50.
Off to Brugges for the weekend and I got my new camera just in time. It's brill, on a 64 Meg card 194 pictures. Not Bad.

And here are a few of the pictures, oh and I start at ASDA

May - It's been shelf filling all month. ASDA Cambridge now has a canned veg department with shelves filled to overflow. Every tin in it's place all lined up and waiting for the opening day. It will never be the same again. This is how it did look before the ravishing.

And now Sob Sob. Oh well it kept the customers happy.
And on another note, once again into the Garden, this time removing a little more lawn. There will be nothing left soon. But it's looking good, well I think so. I need to finish off around the pond. Ideas?
And I won on the premium bonds a whole £50. AGAIN

June - Busy month. The latest and maybe the addition to the garden decking is installed. I can now gaze over my creation from my Captain's chair. It doesn't look to bad even if I say so myself. Just got to sort the slugs out, they are chomping on my plants faster than I can plant them. I have never seen so many.
Went to Newmarket to see car rally and found my next car...... Oh well I can always dream.  I REALLY want to own a jag of my choice NEXT.

The captains Chair

The Captains Chair again

I WANT ONE OF THESE..... Just need £57,000

Plus went to see concert at Kings College, played and sung on the river Cam, on punts. It was a concert of all sorts of music - Classical to Rock. All very very good.
The Jesus College Singers punt past
Off to see Star wars and was so exciting I fell asleep.. YAWN... Its the Queen Jubilee concerts, and I didn't get invite, but did watch on TV .... Good to see such good sprit.

July - Went for day trip to Oxford just to compare with Cambridge and it rained. Bigger than Cambridge but not as good.

An Oxford College

An Oxford Bridge

On the Thames

Started my first commissioned web for tba ltd, Roy's new venture. Michael start's new job at Atkins

August - Sad start to the month, 2 young girls go missing from a village close to us. Later to be found dead at Lakenheath.

Jessica and Holly Rest in Peace
On a brighter note, the Latest of the Sunday meets takes place care of Dick The Countryman at Hatfield Heath and they still after all these years serve Steak and Kidney Puds. Wonderful - Delicious. It's nice to see something's never change.

And on an even brighter notes Roy's 50th, complete with Bouncy Castle.

Gosh this glass of Ghost 99 is sharp

It's the zimmer frame

So how long you known Roy. Well since he was a seedling.

So that's the last of the Guy's come on Girl's, your turn. Then full circle to me again 60 arghhhhhhhhhhhh
And on an even brighter note it's Holiday time, off to Italy.

September - Yes it's off to Italy, on a coach, via France, Germany, Austria and then Italy. All the way to Molvena, about 1200 miles. We went on a cable lift/chair, visited Venice, Innsbruck and Lake Garda all in 5 days. Plus an exciting 3 hours stuck on a motorway on the way to Venice - Just like the M25, just like home.

Venice

To sum up, great bunch of follow passengers, great courier, great driver - BRILL. I would do it all again.
On a separate note another ex-noc'er has now flown the next for pastures new and far away. Good luck Clare in your round the world trip. Keep in touch. As an added note to all those ex-noc'er don't forget the newsgroup. Go on leave a message, let us know how you are.

October - Sad month, as Sue's Mother is diagnosed with terminal Lung Cancer. This has opened my eyes to the workings of NHS. Whilst the nursing staff do an admirable job, the organization behind it, in particular social services lack any sort of coherent understanding of the needs of the terminally ill. NOT IMPRESSED.
Gemma has her 18th Birthday - Doesn't time fly by - It's seems only yesterday we was bringing her home from hospital.

November - So what happened during November, well it Rained, then it Rained again and again. Yes it was WET.
Off we went to Amsterdam again, for our Chinese at the Floating Sea Palace restaurant. None of the excitement of our last visit, no bag snatch, no falling down stairs. Just Brill..... Next Paris
We did visit a diamond factory, where we where shown a 2.5 carat pure brilliant cut diamond, a snip at £40,000. Just 1% of diamonds at this size are pure. Now not a lot know that, now you do. Also wondered round Amsterdam, with a quick nip through the red light district, well I never. All very educational.

Still having issue with social services as Sue's mother is sent from hospital back home, back to hospital, back home again, and finally back to hospital again. Why does no one listen, why do different department not talk to each other. Why is it that Sue with little experience in these matters has to liaise with all to make things happen. WHY DO WE PAY NATIONAL INSURANCE. Grrrrrrrr
I have now retired my server Pc and replaced it with a router and hub. Took a little while to work out why network did not run at 100mbps after I also upgraded with network cards in all the Pc's. It's all down to how you wire them up, do you use T568a or T568b, but you knew that didn't you. Shame I didn't, but I do now.

December - And it's COLD and WET.... Miserable Brrrrrrr.
A month of reflection as Sue's mother enters the pearly gates. But it was Christmas time again, so time also for a little celebration.

My end thoughts for 2002
At the start of the year, I had a grand plan. A simple plan which included settle in on new job, make a fortune, enjoy life etc etc. Well as with all the best laid plan's it all went a little different. For a start the new job at MKC went, so back job hunting again, which proved to be a little more difficult now that I'm termed "Passed It" - well I am 50. No future in employing someone who is 50 plus. So a little re-invention required. I always did fancy going it alone so seemed like a good time to start. So CmGcomputers was born, sort of anyway. Make a fortune fixing computers easy.
That was the original idea but again on a rethink this led me to web site creation, then I can do it all from home. Add a few extra's like email account, domain name search's, a bit off consultancy on the Pc network side and bingo. But all this is going to time, time to sort what I am actually going to offer, find a suitable ISP to base my new sites on, find my client base. So in the meantime what else can I do
- A S D A -
So yes I joined ASDA working nights. Why - Well I enjoy working with people and you never know what might happen and it would give me time to build on my grand plans. But then a snag, for some reason I actually enjoyed the work. So I'm still there and for most of the time enjoying it. As for the future who knows I've given up on plans, lets see where the road leads.......
2002 a year also of deep thoughts, first with Rays death and then later in the year with Sue's mother. I said in 2001 "Life is a precious commodity something you never know when the battery is going to fail." never a truer word. I found the circumstances leading to Sue's mother's death (Lung Cancer) to be though provoking. What is like knowing you are going to die within 3 months. During this period suffering from lack of breath. Relying on an oxygen feed 24hours a day. Ticking the days off. Will it be today, will it be tomorrow. Saying a final goodbye every time you see someone.
So what's to be learnt from this year, that is even the best laid plans can sometimes fail for reason's beyond your control.

Now on to this year.
