Hello.........Here will appear the thoughts of Colin 2005 - Goto latest NEWSThe events that I remember and bring back memories are:-January - Doesn't time fly, 2005 it seems only yesterday that I was writing my 1999 diary. So what's new. As in all January's it was my birthday, but apart from that it was very uneventful. Just the usual cold wet and windy days, roll on summer. Good month to plan ahead for the rest of the year.Bad news about my new car, the factory in Japan has burnt down, 7000 cars RX8,s and MX5's have been destroyed. May not get my new car till late in the year. I think I,m going to cry. Mind you new colours have been announced - Burnt Oak, Rustic red and Molten Grey????February - Sue continues to regain her health and we have our first trip out for what seems like ages, Anglsey Abbey, very picturesque, with all the flowering daffodil's and bluebells, well worth a visit.
And more good news, a car has been sourced for me, and should be arriving in March. March - The snow arrives.... Then the Daffodils.... Then MY CAR..... Was it worth the wait..... (Sometimes the good things in life are worth waiting for) - YES
Also in the news, work on the upstairs bathroom begins. Did I mention, that at long last the last remaining room still in it's original as purchased state is now to have a wall knocked down, new suite installed and tilled, floor to ceiling.
The work begins, the mess beings - Demolition then rebuild. April - John, Sue's cousin died this month battling against Cancer. He died as he wanted to, only when he was ready. He will be greatly missed by all. Once again life is cruel, John 18 month's ago was looking to enjoying life in his retirement. This was cruelly taken away by the onset of Cancer. As I have said before - Makes you wonder!!!! It just seems at time's while you can plan life out, you work hard so that in retirement you can enjoy the fruits of your labours only to have it all taken away through it would seem no fault of your own....... So the question is "what is the point" can someone tell Me.........
May - I go on my RX8 race day at ProDrive. PHEW. 21 RX8's never seen so many, in all colour's, well all except Yellow. First session was road craft with an off duty traffic cop. All went well till he asked me why I was driving so slow. Did I normally drive within the limits. So time to speed up. Speed limits what are they. Next the skid pan. Very easy to spin without the Electronic Vehicle Stability on. With it on it does not spin. I did the 360 spin's - What am I doing to my NEW car. Next the race track circuit, this I felt fairly comfortable with. Whizzing around the bends at speeds normally not achieved on the open road. Emergency stops where next, at 70mph, 90mph then as fast as I could achieve... 110mph on the short straight. Stopping well within the guide stopping figures. At top speed this was achieved without hands on steering wheel, my instructor asked me to remove my hands from the wheel when he said STOP to demonstrate it's handling capabilities Last was the rally course... Not my favourite.... Scary to say the least, especially when the instructor went round the course at speeds unimagible.
June - We go on holiday to Sicily. It seems ages since the last one.
The resort itself was somewhat away from all else, but in it's favour it had all you need for a quite relaxing holiday. We visited Etna, I went into the crater, all around was like a scene on another planet.
July - Off to Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast for the day, we found on the seafront amongst the fish and chips shops an an Italian restaurant. A very pleasant day.
Its Duxford concert day.... No Dave and Pat this time, just Roy, Lynn and Dick to enjoy the show. Even had a display by a flock of geese. As usual all the old numbers Dambusters - Flight of the Valkeri - Star Wars, it gets better every year. Fireworks at the end were fantastic.
August - Went to Cromer, with Sue's Drama group to see the End of Pier Variety Show. Very Good. Below are scenes of Cromer.
Also went on Holiday again, Coach trip to Scotland, on a tour of National Trust sites for 7 days. Brill. Even got a years subscription to the National Trust so the holiday continues.
September - A day at Wimpole Hall.
October - Its off on Holiday again, to somewhere I'd never thought I'd go to, Majorca. We stayed in an apartment in Alcudia, courtesy of a friend of Sue, and I must admit was presently surprised. Only downside was that the weather could have been better. But having been once I would do it again.
November - It's out with the old and in with the new as Gemma gets a new car. The Seat Ibiza I brought for Sue 10 years as a birthday present has been sold to be be replaced by a brand new version. The same salesman who sold me the original car (Jeremy) was still at Marshall's garage to sell Gemma the new replacement.
December - Another visit to Amsterdam and the floating Sea Palace Restaurant. This time for an Indonesian Meal - 22 dishes in all.
Its Christmas time, that went quick.....
